Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.

The Spurs are on the road tonight for their first game of 2024, and they face the Grizzlies, who defeated the Spurs 120-108 on November 18 in the Frost Bank Center. This time, Memphis will have Ja Morant back from suspension, and the Grizzlies look like a more competitive team with him back in the lineup. They’re still only one game ahead of the Trail Blazers, who the Spurs split a back-to-back with last week.

With Zach Collins out for at least a couple of weeks, the Spurs lack size whenever Wembanyama has to rest, and that should be good news for Jaren Jackson Jr. who should be able to dominate Sandro Mamukelashvili whenever he’s on the court. The Spurs also will need to clean up turnovers and play better in transition.

The Spurs are undefeated in 2024, and it would be great to keep that going tonight. Let’s go Spurs.

Game Prediction:

Ja Morant will be blocked by Victor Wembanyama at least twice tonight.

One final word:

Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
