Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.
Winning is really fun, isn’t it? It’s great to go into the fourth quarter with a huge lead and have the bench unit just build on that lead and leave no doubt to the outcome. Drama is fun, but sometimes a complete lack of drama is even more satisfying, and that’s how I felt about last night’s 135-99 blowout win over the Hornets.
Tonight’s game will be more challenging for the Silver and Black, because the Bulls are a better team, and the Spurs will be without their best player, as Victor Wembanyama is sitting this one out as part of an abundance of caution for his lingering ankle injury after playing 20 minutes last night.
DeMar DeRozan is the engine that makes the Bulls offense go, but he played 41 minutes last night in a loss to the Warriors, so perhaps the Spurs will catch a break if DeRozan plays limited minutes. DeMan is old school, so I wouldn’t count on it, he could play the whole game if the coach would let him. Zach Lavine is back in the lineup and has looked really good since returning. This is the third and final meeting between the Spurs and Bulls this season, and the Bulls won the previous two, so this is the last chance for the Silver and Black to exact revenge. Let’s watch and find out whether the Spurs can get their first three-game win streak of the season.
Victor Wembanyama will put on a Champagnie jersey and attempt to check himself into the game at the beginning of the third quarter. His plan will be thwarted by a observant official who has trouble believing that Julian grew 8 inches taller at halftime, despite the somewhat convincing fake beard.
One final word:
Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
