Happy New Year, Spurs Fans! Tonight marks the return of Derrick White to San Antonio for the second time since he was traded to Boston for Romeo Langford, Josh Richardson, a first round pick that was used to draft Blake Wesley, and a bag of chips*.
The Celtics will be the toughest opponent the Spurs have faced this year, and they will need to have one of their best games of the season to have a chance against the Leprechauns. They did almost drop a game against the Pistons last week, but Derrick White took over in the second half to snatch the game away for a Celtics overtime victory. The Spurs will need a combination of the Celtics taking a victory for granted and a great game from Victor Wembanyama to overcome the Celtics tonight, and it would be the most improbable game of the year if that happened. But it’s the last day of the year, and that’s always a good day for improbable outcomes. Let’s watch and see how the Spurs can play against a really good team. Remember not to drink too much during the game, because you have to stay up until at least 11:00 PM Central Time to watch the ball drop in Times Square. Whatever happens tonight in the game, I’m going to enjoy myself and be thankful for another great year of being a Spurs fan. Let’s go Spurs.
Derrick White will attempt to switch jerseys at halftime, but Coach Mazzulla will make him go back into the visitor’s locker room and switch back before the ball is put into play.
One final word:
Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
