The best plays of the Spurs’ loss to the Jazz

You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet, but what if you want bacon instead?

NBA: Utah Jazz at San Antonio Spurs Daniel Dunn-USA TODAY Sports

The San Antonio Spurs came up short against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night in an effort to end their recent rough sledding. Keldon Johnson led the team with 26 points while Devin Vassell dropped in 22. Victor Wembanyama continued his the ongoing block party he’s throwing for the league with 5 swats to go with his 15 points, 7 rebounds and four assists.

Although the Spurs did not land the W, there were plentiful of high-flying highlights throughout the game.

Jeremy Sochan took the deflection of his own pass attempt and churned it into a dunk. Sochan continues to provide energetic plays and show flashes of playmaking abilities.

‘Tis the season to be sharing. Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-look-at-this-crisp-ball movement.

Keldon Johnson’s a team player. He doesn’t mind coming off the bench. If he harbored any anger about the matter, not like he’d passively aggressively take it out on the court with an aggressively nonpassive thunderous dunk, right?

Vassell ran out of real estate after the pickpocket on the defensive end, but he was able to recover quickly to deliver the package to a trailing Tre Jones.

Devin Vassell smoothly shows off a picture-perfect arcing three-pointer with the splash of the net for emphasis.

I give this dime by Sochan a 10 out of 10. I also give Julian Champagnie a 10 out of 10 for the finish. Would high recommend this sequence to friends. Nine out of 10 dentists agree that ball movement is essential to any NBA offense, and none of us floss as much as we need to.

This play ended with a strong finish at the rim by Wembanyama. He’s good for at least two of these per game. Despite the extra focus from opposing defenses, the rookie continues to find ways to make an impact on offense.

Oh my. Vassell skied high for this nasty jam off the feed from Zach Collins. Coach Popovich challenged Vassell to take on more scoring responsibility, and the young swingman responded with 22 points and 5 - 10 shooting from deep.

If you missed the game because you were too busy shopping for discounted Christmas lights, here are the full-game highlights:

Next up, the Spurs travel westward to take on the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday, December 28, 2023.
