It’s time for Basketball: All I want for Christmas is all day hoops

The NBA traditionally has a full slate of games on Christmas Day, and today’s five games features some attractive matchups

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.

Holidays are a time for family and togetherness, but let’s be frank. Once the gifts are opened and the carols are sung, you need some time to yourself to do something that you enjoy. Well, you’re in luck if you like to watch basketball on TV, and I know you do. The Spurs aren’t playing, so that will probably make the games a little less stressful, and you can enjoy all five games without the frustration of watching missed reads on offense and slow rotations on defense.

Buck at Knicks: 11:00 AM—ESPN
Warriors at Nuggets: 1:30 PM—ESPN, ABC
Celtics at Lakers: 4:00 PM—ESPN, ABC
Sixers at Heat: 7:00 PM—ESPN
Mavericks at Suns: 9:30 PM—ESPN

Game Prediction:

People will definitely try to hold a conversation with you while you’re trying to watch the game. Don’t just pick up the remote and increase the volume, because that’s rude. Try to steer the conversation to basketball, and specifically the Sochan point guard experiment. In no time, they will roll their eyes at you and walk away, and you’ll be able to watch your game in peace.
