The NBA’s first In-Season Tournament solidifies tonight

Final play will determine the knockout round

Today is the final day of games leading to the NBA’s inaugural In-Season Tournament. There are six spots still left to be determined as only the Lakers and Pacers have locked in their spots.

Sixteen teams still have a shot at the remaining six spots in Las Vegas, but the chances are not all equal.

This is precisely what the league had in mind as basketball fans are glued to their sets to see who will be crowned the first ever In-Season Champions.

Here’s the text-

“ATLANTA clinches Wildcard if the following occurs:

1) ATL victory + NYK loss + MIA loss + BOS loss + BKN loss + ATL finishes second in group and wins tiebreaker over any second-place team from other group

BOSTON clinches Group C if the following occurs:

1) BOS victory + BKN victory and BOS wins tiebreaker over ORL and BKN

BOSTON clinches Wildcard if one of the following occurs:

1) BOS victory + BKN loss + NYK loss + MIA loss + CLE loss

2) BOS victory and finishes second in group and wins tiebreaker over any second-place team from other group with a 3-1 record

3) CLE loss + NYK loss + MIA loss + BKN loss + BOS wins tiebreaker over any second-place team from other group.

BROOKLYN clinches Group C if one of the following occurs:

1) BKN victory + BOS loss

2) BKN victory and wins tiebreaker over BOS and ORL

BROOKLYN clinches wild card if one of the following occurs:

1) BKN victory + CLE loss + NYK loss + MIA loss +

BKN finishes second in group

2) BKN victory and finishes second in group and wins tiebreaker over any second-place team from other group with a 3-1 record

CHARLOTTE clinches wild card if the following occurs:

1) CHA victory + CLE loss + MIA loss + BOS loss + BKN loss and CHA finishes in second place in group and wins tiebreaker over any second-place team from other group

CLEVELAND clinches wild card if one of the following occurs:

1) CLE victory + NYK loss + MIA loss + BOS loss + BKN loss

2) CLE victory and wins tiebreaker over any second-place team from other groups with a 3-1 record

MIAMI clinches Group B if one of the following occurs:

1) MIA victory + NYK loss

2) MIA victory and wins tiebreaker over MIL and NYK

MIAMI clinches wild card if one of the following occurs:

1) MIA victory + CLE loss + BOS loss + BKN loss + MIA finishes second in group

2) MIA victory and finishes second in group and wins tiebreaker over any second-place team from other group with a 3-1 record

3) CLE loss + NYK loss + BOS loss + BKN loss + MIA finishes second in group and wins tiebreaker over any second-place team from other group

MILWAUKEE clinches Group B if one of the following occurs:

1) MIL victory

2) NYK victory + MIL wins tiebreaker over NYK and MIA

MILWAUKEE clinches wild card if one of the following occurs:

1) NYK loss + CLE loss + BOS loss + BKN loss

2) MIL finishes second in group and wins tiebreaker over any second-place team from other group with a 3-1 record

NEW YORK clinches Group B if the following occurs:

1) NYK victory + MIL loss + NYK wins tiebreaker over MIL and MIA

NEW YORK clinches Wildcard if one of the following occurs:

1) NYK victory + MIA loss + CLE loss + BOS loss + BKN loss

2) NYK victory and finishes second in group and wins tiebreaker over any second-place team from other group with a 3-1 record

3) MIA loss + CLE loss + BOS loss + BKN loss + NYK wins tiebreaker over any second-place team from other group

ORLANDO clinches Group C if one of the following occurs:

1) BKN loss

2) BOS victory and ORL wins tiebreaker over BKN and BOS

ORLANDO clinches Wildcard if one of the following occurs:

1) BOS loss + CLE loss + NYK loss + MIA loss

2) ORL finishes second in group and wins tiebreaker over any second-place team from other group with a 3-1 record

PHILADELPHIA clinches Wildcard if the following occurs:

1) CLE loss + NYK loss + MIA loss + BOS loss + BKN loss + PHI finishes second in group and wins tiebreaker over any second-place team from other group”

And similarly for the Western Conference:

“GOLDEN STATE clinches Group C if one of the following occurs:

1) GSW victory + MIN loss

2) GSW victory + GSW wins tiebreaker over SAC and MIN

GOLDEN STATE clinches Wildcard if the following occurs:

1) GSW victory and finishes second in group and wins tiebreaker over any second-place team from other group with a 3-1 record

HOUSTON clinches Group B if the following occurs:

1) HOU victory

MINNESOTA clinches Group C if the following occurs:

1) MIN victory + SAC loss + MIN wins tiebreaker over SAC and GSW

MINNESOTA clinches Wildcard if the following occurs:

1) MIN victory and finishes second in group and wins tiebreaker over any second-place teams from other group with a 3-1 record

NEW ORLEANS clinches Group B if the following occurs:

1) HOU loss

PHOENIX clinches wild card if one of the following occurs:

1) MIN loss

2) PHX wins tiebreaker over any second-place team from the other groups that finishes 3-1

SACRAMENTO clinches Group C if one of the following occurs:

1) SAC victory

2) MIN victory + SAC wins tiebreaker over both MIN and GSW”

Wins, losses, tiebreakers, and point differentials all come into play as we may be looking at last minute scoring to lock in the final bracket.

30 teams started, only 14 have been eliminated. By the end of the night the remaining 16 teams will be edited down to 8.
