Brett Brown Coaching Analysis

I'm glad to have Brett, and I think he did a very good job in Philadelphia given what he had to work with (see below).

Brett was hired by the Philadelphia 76ers in August, 2013, with the full knowledge by everyone involved that this was a complete rebuild. Sam Hinkie hired him, and played a dominant role as GM in making draft pick selections from 2013-2016, when Jerry/Bryan Colangelo took over, followed by Elton Brand. Here is a summary of the rosters Brett Brown had to work with by year.

Basically, he didn't have much to work with, and wasn't given great draft picks to develop although many draft picks were made. High draft picks are expected to develop anyways, such as Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. He did a good job with Robert Covington, TJ and McConnell. There's only so much you can do with a Markell Fultz, for example, or JP Tokoto.
