So, the Spurs are doing due diligence and kicking the tires of prospective players before the up-coming 2022 NBA Draft. It has been reported that the Spurs have had workouts with Jalen Wilson of Kansas - Jordan Guskey - Twitter. I have to admit I'd never heard of him, not following the college season as closely as I typically do. He hasn't popped up on too many mock drafts, even in the second round which explains why he was invited to the G-League version of the combine, rather than the full NBA combine.
So, here is a bit about him...
Jalen is a 6'8" sophomore forward, in the 2021-22 season he averaged around 29 minutes on the court for averages like - 46%FG, 26$3PT (although he shot 33% the year before), 7.4 reb, 1.8 ast, 0.4 blk, 0.9stl.
G-League Invite 2022 - He went for 18pts, 8 reb and hit 4 3pt shots during the game.
In the NCAA championship game he scored 15pts, 4 reb, 2ast, 1blk - which is why teams might be starting to look at him a little more than they did previously. He might be a legitimate sleeper for the 2nd Rd. For the Spurs he would be a Keita Bates-Diop type of gamble in the 2nd Rd - but there might just be better players available at the 38th pick. So, perhaps this is more about the possibility of him going undrafted and heading to Austin.
