The Spurs used the 49th pick of the 1991 NBA Draft to nab guard Greg Sutton. I am unsure of what happened to the Spurs first round pick, but since they had two second round picks the previous season, I assume there was a draft swap embedded in a trade scenario of sorts. If any of you elder statesmen know more, please share in the comments below.
Sutton played his rookie season with the Spurs, averaging 3.7 points per game coming off the bench for nine minutes a night. As he was playing point guard behind Avery Johnson and Rod Strickland, his time with the Silver & Black was limited.
He spent his second season in the Continental Basketball Association before heading overseas. He returned to play with the Charlotte Hornets and the Philadelphia 76ers before continuing his career in the CBA, G-League, and overseas.
NEXT UP: 1992 Tracy Murray and Henry Williams
