Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much. Remember, it’s only a game, and unless you made a very unwise bet, the outcome shouldn’t affect your life either way. It’s OK to get mad, but don’t take it out on your fellow Spurs fans.

If the Spurs want to get into the postseason, tonight will be the most important night of the season so far. They can pick up the tiebreaker on the Kings and reduce the magic number over the Pelicans by a game tonight with a win, and could wrap up the 10th spot with just one or two more wins in the remaining 6 games. Even if the Spurs lose, they have a path to the play-in, but it would be much more narrow and require several wins over elite teams in the Western Conference, which the Silver and Black haven’t been able to accomplish lately.

The Kings are a little beat up tonight, and they’re missing De’Aaron Fox due to Covid protocols, so the good guys have a shot tonight, but can they take advantage? The last 2 weeks have been a maddening five-game losing spiral, alternating between razor-thin overtime losses and soul-crushing blowouts. Tonight we’ll find out if Dejounte Murray will show his resilience and DeMar DeRozan can find his late-game mojo. Will Jakob stay out of foul trouble? Will Keldon find his shot, and will Lonnie find consistency? The Spurs need to get off to a fast start tonight and put this thing away early, because it’s one of those west coast late starts and I’ll be upset if I have to stay up really late just to see another loss. So for the sake of a good night’s rest, let’s get this one, Spurs!

The time has come to finally do all the things, to go to Sacramento and beat the Kings. And as sure as Buffalos have wings, tonight will be the triumph of the younglings.

One final word:

Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
