Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much. Remember, it’s only a game, and unless you made a very unwise bet, the outcome shouldn’t affect your life either way. It’s OK to get mad, but don’t take it out on your fellow Spurs fans.

The Spurs lost by 11 on Monday, but that’s deceptive, because they were never in the game during the entire 48 minutes it was played. When Jakob Poeltl picked up early fouls, the Silver and Black didn’t have much of an answer as Bojan Bogdanovic and Rudy Gobert ate up the Spurs defense and on the other end, the offense stagnated because Gobert had ever Spurs shooter second-guessing themselves whenever they got anywhere near the paint with his incredible defensive range. Factor in a cold-shooting night from range, and the loss was a foregone conclusion.

Meanwhile, the play-in race is tightening up, and it’s looking like the Spurs might have to win some games to hold onto their 10th place spot. In order to do that, they’re going to need some shooters to step up and hit a few triples to open up the paint for DeMar’s drives. Patty Mills has been a shadow of himself lately, and he’s going to have to hit some shots for the Spurs to have a shot tonight. Devin Vassell showed signs of improvement on Monday, he will be needed to make an impact tonight. Keldon Johnson has been hitting a wall lately, but he’s just the kind of guy to bust right through it. Maybe tonight.

Pelicans and Kings and Grizzlies, oh my! How in the world will we get by? There are other things to worry about, such as . . . we have to find a way to defeat the Jazz.

[Note: oddly enough, neither of these teams is off the see the Wizards anytime soon.]

One final word:

Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
