It’s time for San Antonio Spurs vs Phoenix Suns

In a early afternoon game, the Suns are fighting to get the #1 seed and the Spurs are looking to get some rest

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much. Remember, it’s only a game, and unless you made a very unwise bet, the outcome shouldn’t affect your life either way. It’s OK to get mad, but don’t take it out on your fellow Spurs fans.

It’s an early afternoon game that’s meaningless for the Spurs, as they’re locked in to the 10th spot and the last play-in berth whether they win or lose. If the Suns win both their games against the Spurs and the Jazz lose both, they Suns could take over the first place in the Western Conference, so they’re motivated. The Spurs have lost eight of their last 10 games, but the two that they won, against the Pelicans and Kings, were enough to secure a spot in the play in tournament. Gregg Popovich will be resting a lot of players today, as he did in the last game against the Suns, which resulted in a blowout win for the Spurs. That’s not an outcome I expect today, but the Spurs haven’t respected anyone’s expectations this year, both good and bad, so who know what’s going to happen today. For the Spurs fans, enjoy watching a bunch of players play today who probably won’t get any burn at all in the first play-in game next Tuesday or Wednesday. These two teams will be back at it tomorrow, same Coyote-time, same Coyote channel.

For the last month, the Spurs were stuck in reverse gear, but as bad as they were, the Kings and Pels were worser. It not yet over for the teams in the play-in, the Spurs still have a shot, and that’s all I’m sayin’.

One final word:

Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
