Taking the Tim Duncan tour at the AT&T Center

On the eve of the Hall of Fame induction

In honor of Tim Duncan’s induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, the San Antonio Spurs set up the AT&T Center so fans could tour the various honors and trophies of The Big Fundamental set up throughout the arena.

As part of the celebration, the Spurs requested that patrons entering the facilities free of charge bring food and financial donations to support the San Antonio Food Bank, a regular community service partner of Spurs Give.

My partner in crime and I cleaned out the pantry of soup, rice, beans, mac and cheese, cookies, crackers, and other assorted canned and boxed goods. We filled three bags and drove on down to the AT&T Center.

Earlier that day I made a special trip to pick up Tim Duncan jerseys, something neither of us had picked up before. Hers was particularly fitting.

Each leg of the tour featured one of the Spurs five championships, all of which came upon the shoulders of Duncan.

Of course the 1999, 2003, and 2005 titles featured a Finals MVP trophy honoring Timmeh.

After the display of all five Larry O’Brien trophies, fans were treated to the banner that will be hung in the rafters tomorrow night in a special ceremony hosted by Sean Elliott.

And before exiting the Spurs Fan Shop, everyone had the opportunity to give a basketball an iconic Duncan hug.

More than anything, it was yet another outing with my daughter, an adventure away from the house, bonding over the Spurs, and celebrating Tim Duncan’s career.
