Last night Dejounte Murray tallied his fourth triple-double of the season making him the first Spurs since David Robinson to do so.
Murray with another impressive effort - 22 pts, 11 rebs, 10 assists - making him just the 3rd player in Spurs history to have 4 triple doubles in 1 season:— Tom Orsborn (@tom_orsborn) April 29, 2021
David Robinson - 1993-94
Johnny Moore - 1984-85
Dejounte Murray - 2020-21
Two nights before that, Dejounte scored twenty-five points and nabbed seventeen rebounds leading to this tweet:
Last three Spurs with 25+ points and 15+ rebounds in a game:— Jordan Howenstine (@AirlessJordan) April 27, 2021
Dejounte Murray - Tonight
LaMarcus Aldridge - 2019
Tim Duncan - 2013
That’s impressive company, but what Dan Weiss shared at the beginning of last night’s game was even a little more telling. In Spurs franchise history, only two guards have scored twenty-five or more while pulling fifteen or more rebounds.
Those two Spurs legends are George “The Iceman” Gervin and Manu Ginobili.
Once again, Dejounte Murray finds himself in good company with former Spurs comparisons.
Spurs wrap up the road trip tomorrow in Boston.
