The Spurs are seeking consistency this year, something they lost track of early in the season when the team was upended by an extended unplanned suspension of play for Covid-related reasons in February. The suspension only lasted 10 days, but they missed 5 games, and making up those games has turned the already crowded second half schedule into a dreary grind, with a 12-18 record since the break. The Silver and Black has started to show some signs of life lately, but after a second half rout against the Heat last night in San Antonio, it’s obvious that they team has miles to go before they are consistently competitive.
Tonight they face they Detroit Pistons, also on the second game of a back-to-back, after a 10 point loss to the Mavericks last night. The Pistons are bad this year, but the Spurs haven’t brought the appropriate intensity to playing bad teams, and have really struggled at home this year. This should be a good night for the Spurs, but if it isn’t, it will probably be because Devin Vassell didn’t play until garbage time.
Tonight the Spurs face the team from the Motor City. They must crush their dream without pity. To achieve victory, the effort must be gritty, If you are prepared, a lion is just a big kitty.
One final word:
Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
