Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.
The NBA All-Star Game is an annual extravaganza that has everything to do with honoring the best players in the game and providing entertainment for the fans, but has very little to do with sound basketball. This year’s contest has zero Spurs participating, unless somehow they convinced super-snub DeMar DeRozan to rush to Atlanta to take the place of Joel Embiid or Ben Simmons, who were last-minute roster scratches due to Covid contact tracing. It’s going to be an all night affair, and there will be a ‘dunno’ contest at halftime. [I think that’s supposed to say dunk contest, but that’s what the message from my editor told me.]
This will certainly be a spectacle, and maybe even fun to watch. For those of you that are watching the festivities, consider this an open thread.
