After the misfire against the Hornets on Monday, the Spurs face one of the West’s elite teams tonight

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.

The Spurs lack of consistency this year has cost them the opportunity to move into the top tier of playoff contenders in the west, as they’ve lurked in the 7-10 play-in range all season. Monday night’s lackluster effort did them no favors, as they allowed a short-handed Hornets team to keep the game just out of reach and steal a win in the Alamo City. Tonight, the face one of the West’s elite teams, coincidentally led by a former Spurs player. A lot of people don’t know this, but #2 on the Clippers started his career right here in San Antonio. Weird, right? He’s likely to be guarded by Keldon Johnson tonight, and it will be quite an interesting challenge for the Silver and Black’s young budding star. The Spurs aren’t favored tonight, but they’ve always played well against the aforementioned former Spurs player, so there’s a good chance this one will be fun to watch. If it isn’t, I will be telling jokes in the game thread.

There’s a guy who wears #2. For many of us, he was a former boo. But since he’s no longer true, all I can say is, “Kawhi WHO?”

One final word:

Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
