San Antonio Spurs rookie guard Tre Jones has been named to the 2020-21 All-NBA G League Third Team following his stint in the Gubble this season. The Spurs drafted Jones, who was considered a first round talent, at 41st overall in the 2020 NBA Draft. Robert Woodard II, who was assigned to the Austin Spurs as a flex signee from the Sacramento Kings, also landed Third Team honors.

In Orlando, Jones averaged 18.1 points, 9.7 assists and 5.3 rebounds in seven games before he and Luka Samanic were recalled to San Antonio after the NBA roster was depleted by a COVID 19 outbreak. His assist numbers were good for best in the Gubble before he had to leave. His top performance came against the Erie Bayhawks when he posted a 30-point, 11-assist double-double.
Samanic did not receive any honors but still had a breakout performance in Orlando himself, averaging 21.8 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game, including a 29-point explosion against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Austin head coach Matt Nielsen credited Samanic’s G League performance for his boost in confidence ahead his own semi-NBA breakout before the All-Star break.
Without Jones and Samanic, Austin fell in the first round of the playoffs but could have been title favorites had they been able to stick around.
