The Spurs rally but get stung at the end by the Hornets

The Spurs’ record would be way better if they played every game on the road and only the 2nd and 4th quarters counted.

The Spurs almost pulled off a heist on the short-handed Hornets. Alas, they fell short despite a great fourth quarter push by DeMar DeRozan and Derrick White. DeRozan led all scorers with 28 points on 11 for 16 shooting. White poured in 21 points while Jakob Poeltl pulled down 11 boards and swatted shot attempts to the tune of 4 blocks for the night.

Derrick White was hot from downtown, hitting 5 out of 9 three pointers to help the Spurs mount that almost-comeback against the Hornets:

Lonnie Walker IV got a tough bucket after floating through the lane and flicking the ball in:

Jakob Poeltl did what he does best, swatting and rejecting shots:

DeMar DeRozan has a treasure trove of offensive moves, and this swing through floater in the lane was just another thing of beauty:

Derrick White facilitated the Spurs’ 4th quarter push with timely threes and this pretty reverse layup:

What can DeMar DeRozan say after this high-arcing, and-1 shot other than “You’re welcome.”

And last but never least, the full game highlights:

Next up, the Spurs remain at home to take on the L.A. Clippers on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.
