Quinndary Weatherspoon will be joining the Austin Spurs in the G League Bubble in Orlando after San Antonio assigned him to their developmental affiliate.

The second-year combo guard inked a two-way contract with the Spurs this offseason and has appeared in five games for the Silver and Black this season.

Weatherspoon was one of five San Antonio players due to health and safety protocols after four positive COVID-19 tests postponed four of their games last month.

The Mississippi State alum spent most of his rookie season in Austin after the Spurs selected him 49th overall in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft.

Quinndary now joins first-year head coach Matt Nielsen and the fourth-place (9-4) Austin Spurs as they fight for one of the six remaining playoff spots in the Gubble.

With Luka Samanic, Tre Jones, and Robert Woodard II receiving call-ups to the NBA, the return of Weatherspoon will likely bring a welcome boost to the shorthanded Austin Spurs.

The 24-year-old started 35 contests and averaged 14.8 points per game for Austin a year ago before the coronavirus pandemic cut the 2019-20 G League campaign short.
