Spurs blast Magic with balanced scoring and stifling defense

New, comments

These tears of joy are fake, but the crowd noises are real.

Against an understaffed Magic team, the Spurs took care of business with Rudy Gay leading the team with 19 points. Dejointe Murray and Derrick White each poured in 17 while Patty Mills scored 13 with 3 steals.

The Spurs were already up double digits in the fourth, but Rudy Gay made sure they sealed the deal by scoring 12 of his 19 in the final period. Here, he opened up the fourth with a running dunk off a Dejointe Murray steal:

Speaking of, Dejointe Murray is a pesky pickpocket with a particularly praiseworthy steal rate. He had two tonight including this gem:

Derrick White with the sleight of hand to sneak Keldon Johnson a sweet pass for the slam:

Rudy Gay: “You’re not going to see a better block this far from the basket tonight.”

Keldon Johnson: “Hold my microbrew.”

“What goes around comes around.”

- Patty FIBA Mills

It feels like it’s been a while since we’ve seen KJ’s patented bullrush angry dunk. Glad to see it back:

And last but never least, the full game highlights:

Next up, the Spurs head out to their first of five games on the road to take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, March 14, 2021.
