Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.
One year ago on this date, was the last time the Spurs played before the season was suspended on March 11, 2020. Their opponent on that day was the team they’re facing tonight, the Dallas Mavericks, with the Silver and Black winning 119-109. A lot has changed in the last year, but one constant is that Luka Doncic, who scored 38 points in that game, is really good. Tonight, there’s another Luka in town, and he’s been showing lately that he was worth the 19th pick in 2019. The Spurs have everyone back tonight except for Devin Vassell, who is still getting into game shape after a long layoff, and tonight will be a great chance for San Antonio to start off the second half of the season on the right foot and improve their 18-14 record.
A trip to Dallas is always tricky, sometimes things get a little Maverick-y; but tonight a Luka will shine, the question is, will it be theirs or mine?
One final word:
Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
