Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.
The short-handed Timberwolves dominated the Spurs for about 40 minutes on Wednesday night, but NBA games are 48 minutes long, and DeMar DeRozan took over the game late and wouldn’t let his struggling team lose as the Silver and Black pulled out a 111-108 win as D’Angelo Russell’s shot ricocheted off the rim at the buzzer. Tonight, they face the Rockets who are likely without John Wall and Spurs-killer Christian Wood. But the Spurs will be without LaMarcus Aldridge, and Lonnie Walker IV, and Dejounte Murray is questionable, which means that the offense rests on DeMar DeRozan and Derrick White tonight. This is a contest between two teams with similar records, so it’s not going to be easy for the good guys to keep on a winning track and stay in the playoff hunt.
After a night off, the Spurs return to the Alamo City for a home back-to-back against the Warriors, who routed the Spurs 121-99 in their last meeting and have been hitting their stride lately with contributions from unlikely stars like Kelly Oubre Jr., who dropped 40 the other night against Dallas in a rout of the Ponies.
The key to beating the Wolves was DeMar, Don’t call him underrated, he’s an All Star! It’s time for a good game from Keldon, a victory in Houston will mean a job well done!
One final word:
Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
