With the NBA’s 75th season just a few weeks from tipoff, the league has started rolling out promotional material to celebrate the milestone.
On Thursday, a commercial was released that included both legends from the past and current superstars, and it’s not hyperbole to say that this is one of the best videos the league has ever made.
Unsurprisingly, a number of former Spurs showed up. The first was Manu Ginobili, who made a brief appearance by lobbing up an alley-oop for Zach LaVine while preparing a BBQ. Ironically, Manu received a pass from former rival Dirk Nowitzki, which can be seen as the NBA marketing some of the greatest international players ever.
Of course, Tim Duncan made an appearance as well. However, in classic Timmy fashion, he was only shown in a portrait and wasn’t there in person. I mean, is anyone surprised? Outside of his brief stint as an assistant coach, I can probably count on one hand the number of times he’s willingly made a public appearance of any kind.
On a more controversial note for Spurs fans, Robert Horry and Kawhi Leonard showed up too. Horry was there simply to show off his ring count while Kawhi just... stood there? The Klaw continues to confound people, and that won’t go away anytime soon.
No matter their excitement level before, this commercial will surely make many fans even more pumped for the upcoming season. With less than two weeks to go, we’re on the cusp of a new era for both the Spurs and league as a whole.
