It’s time for Basketball: Spurs vs. Jazz

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.

It’s basketball season already! Well, preseason, and your Spurs are playing the Jazz. This may be one of the few times in 2021 to see Josh Primo in a San Antonio uniform, because he’s going to spend a lot of this year in Austin getting ready for the big team. San Antonio currently has 17 players signed to contracts, so at least two of the players in tonight’s game will be gone by the season opener on October 20 in Orlando, and there’s also one open 2-way slot, so there’s likely to be at least one addition. It’s going to be the fan’s first peek at the new look Spurs, but don’t expect too much in the first preseason contest.

Spurs basketball is back, and tonight is the beginning of the most exciting Spurs season since 2015, at least. It’s a new beginning, and it’s going to be fun to watch Pop and this crew work out how to adapt to a faster and more fluid style of play. The score doesn’t count tonight, but it will be fun to see how the team is developing, if in fact you find out a way to see the game, since there doesn’t appear to be a broadcast tonight. But take heart, it looks like the rest of the Spurs preseason games will be on League Pass.
