Yesterday, the G-League held it’s annual draft and the Austin Spurs chose Alexis Wangmene.

Although he 6’7” big man was born in Cameroon, he played high school ball here in San Antonio at Central Catholic High School before attending Blair Academy in New Jersey.

He returned to Texas to attend UT Austin in 2007 and played basketball for the Longhorns until his 2012 graduation. Wangmene went undrafted in 2012 and joined the Austin Toros for a season. He played overseas from 2013 until 2016 when he returned to Austin (this time the Spurs) for another season. He headed back into international play from 2017 through 2020 before being drafted into the G-League yesterday.

He is making his third appearance on the Austin squad.

In addition to the Austin Spurs, Alexis has played with the San Antonio Spurs in Summer League.

He is currently thirty-two-years-old.
