As has often been the case this season, Gregg Popovich was not happy with how the Spurs recent win against the Lakers was being officiated. LeBron James got away with at least two blatant offensive fouls by hooking Dejounte Murray on drives to the basket early, and overall it just felt like more calls were going their way. (The final box score shows the Spurs actually had 5 fewer fouls called on them by the end of the game, and the Lakers only had 4 more FT attempts, but that’s beside the point.)
Regardless, viewers may have noticed that Pop was unusually animated on the sidelines as a result, and many were even more surprised at the 71-year-old’s jumping abilities.

Maybe it’s the lack of a suit and the comfortable shoes, but Pop definitely has some surprising hops. This resulted in some hilarious memes trending across Twitter.

Bonus: Pop inadvertently becoming a meme wasn’t the only hilarious thing that was trending following that game. Rudy Gay had a little fun of his own, jokingly putting Anthony Davis in a headlock after the two stumbled to the floor on a drive to the basket:

Overall, Thursday’s unexpected win at the Staples Center was an enjoyable game with plenty of enjoyable moments both during the game and between the whistles. Tonight, the Spurs turn their attention to a back-to-back series against Timberwolves.
