Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.
Monday night started on a promising note, the Spurs were in New Orleans to face the Pelicans, and ready to avenge an early season loss to the slumping Pelicans on the second night of a back-to-back. But it wasn’t to be, as the game was canceled just an hour before the scheduled tip-off because Covid contact tracing had left both teams with not enough players eligible to play. Tonight, the unexpectedly rested Spurs face the tired and talented Celtics, and a win tonight would be a real confidence builder for a team that’s just starting to gel this year, as the young talented core of Dejounte Murray, Keldon Johnson, and Lonnie Walker IV learn to merge their talents with the experienced leadership from DeMar DeRozan, LaMarcus Aldridge, Rudy Gay, and Patty Mills. Who knows, with an extra day of rest and practice, we might see things start to come together tonight for the Silver and Black.
The Spurs were almost ready to play, and suddenly, the Commissioner phoned. Something has gone astray, the message he delivered was bracing, Adam Silver intoned: “We must do contact tracing, the game is POSTPONED!”
One final word:
Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
