The loss of Dejounte Murray early in Friday night’s game to an ankle sprain put the Fiesta-clad home team in a hole early, and despite a furious fourth quarter rally, the Mavs were able to hold onto their lead with clutch baskets down the stretch by Doncic and Brunson icing the game. Tonight, they face the enigmatic Washington Wizards, who have been hard hit by Covid protocol and haven’t played in about two weeks. The Spurs have played 5 more games than Washington so far, with no canceled games so far, although the Houston game came close. On paper, this looks like a game that the Spurs should be able to count in the win column, against a rusty team with a limited roster, but in fact, we all know that the guys in Silver and Black can’t really count on anything this year. A Houston team that traded away their best player embarrassed this team just a week ago, and Pop no doubt will remind his players of that in the pre-game. Tonight is a FIGABABA, and they’ll be leaving right after the game to head to New Orleans for a Monday night game against the Pelicans.
Will Dejounte return to the court? How many players will the Wizards be short? What will we see from Bradley Beal, and when will Murray’s ankle heal? Tonight will be a test, it’s not time for the good guys to rest, let’s cheer for the Silver and Black, and put another win in the sack.
One final word:
Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
