It’s time for San Antonio Spurs at Golden State Warriors

The surging Spurs face Stephen Curry and the surprisingly good Warriors

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.

After a fourth quarter surge led the Spurs to a surprisingly easy win over the Trail Blazers on Monday afternoon, the Spurs are in San Francisco tonight to face the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors were expected to be really good this year, but the loss of Klay Thompson to injury led to a cascade of lowered expectations. But with Stephen Curry back and playing at an elite level, the Warriors are actually ... good? Despite having the puzzling Andrew Wiggins and the inconsistent Kelly Oubre Jr. in the starting lineup, they’ve shown themselves to be a dangerous team, beating the Lakers on Monday night behind a furious comeback led by Curry, Draymond Green, and the aforementioned Oubre.

The Spurs got the most out of their veterans on Monday, with LaMarcus having his best game of the year so far, and DeMar DeRozan carrying out his usual role of leadership and clutch scoring. Patty Mills seems to be getting over his shooting slump of the last couple of weeks, and Rudy Gay just knows how to score baskets. They’ll need all of those guys to perform tonight, and they’ll need some good performances from the young guys to win tonight on the road (which is very friendly this year). I’m predicting a breakout game for Lonnie Walker IV who will probably be guarded by Oubre.

One final word:

Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
