It’s time for San Antonio Spurs vs Houston Rockets

After Thursday’s disappointing effort, the Spurs try to even things up against the short-handed Rockets

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.

After the Spurs got shown up on Thursday night by a motivated and inspired Rockets squad, the teams are back at it this afternoon in the AT&T Center. After a successful road trip, the Spurs took a win for granted against a Rockets team that just traded away their biggest star and locker room distraction, and they paid the price. The lesson is, always respect your opponent and have appropriate fear. Today, the Rockets expect to add Victor Oladipo to their attack, and the Spurs will need better games from their veterans. DeMar DeRozan should have a better time after he’s been back with the team for a few days, and hopefully LaMarcus Aldridge will break out of the recent offensive slump, and handle his defensive rotations, which were slow on Thursday. Patty Mills had an off night, but I’m not worried about him, I expect FIBA Patty to make an appearance today. Today might be the day that Pop finally trusts Lonnie Walker IV enough to put him in the finishing lineup in a close game, because he probably should have been there in the last game. Keldon Johnson and Dejounte Murray will be important as always if the Spurs want to even the season series with the Rockets.

One final word:

Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
