It’s time for San Antonio Spurs vs Houston Rockets

Harden’s gone, but the Rockets are still going to be a tough out as the Spurs return home

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.

I usually put something in the game thread intro about the opponent, but I have no idea who’s going to play for the Rockets tonight in their first game after the blockbuster trade that sent James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets. The Rockets still have John Wall and Christian Wood, and Victor Oladipo is on the team but may not be ready to play tonight. It’s a get-back game for the Silver and Black after their 4-1 road trip, and those are always difficult for the home team’s mental state. If the Spurs have a mental letdown, the Rockets are perfectly capable of taking advantage. DeMar DeRozan should be back with the team tonight, but no word yet if he’ll play tonight. We will need the young guys to continue their solid performances, so let’s hope Dejounte Murray, Keldon Johnson, and Lonnie Walker IV will lead the team to a win in their first nationally televised game of the season.

One final word:

Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
