Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.
Last night, the Spurs pulled off a thrilling win against the Timberwolves, and tonight they’re back at it, same bat-time, same bat-place, same bat-channel. The Spurs have only played one SEGABABA (second game of a back-to-back) this year, a loss to the Pelicans on December 27 last year. Tonight, they attempt to even their SEGABABA record for the season and win their fourth straight. It will be tough, because even with a wrist that was clearly hurting, Karl-Anthony Towns was a terror last night, and it seemed like Malik Beasley couldn’t miss a shot. However, DeMar DeRozan powered the Spurs to a win with an incredible scoring performance despite being denied free throws on a ridiculous number of obvious fouls that weren’t called. LaMarcus Aldridge showed his value with timely scoring and a crucial deflection of a pass that iced the win, and key baskets from Patty Mills provided the winning margin in overtime. Hopefully, the Spurs can maintain their intensity tonight and bring home another win on the road.
One final word:
Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
