2020 was a year all it’s own. And hindsight being 20/20, there was not much we could have done to avoid or alter the circumstances of our existence. But as the calendar turns over we boldly enter the Year of the Timobili.
What is the Timobili, you ask?
Legend (actually two legends) has it that in the year melding the numbers 20 and 21, the synchronicity, unity, and continuity of Manu Ginobili (Manu or more directly Emanuel meaning “God is with us”) and Tim Duncan (in Gaelic, Duncan translates into a “dark warrior”) will bring peace and prosperity to the city of San Antonio.
God is truly with the dark warriors of the Alamo City, always were, always will be. Nothing has changed, but many have forgotten. Timobili rises to remind those who have lost their faith.
Timobili (because Manuncan didn’t have as nice a ring) brings the power of thirty-five intense seasons of basketball, each with postseason action, twenty All-Star appearances (NBA and Italian League), nine NBA Championships, two international championships, an Italian Cup, eleven MVP awards, seventeen NBA All-Star team nods, an Italian League Dunk Contest Champion, a Rookie of the Year, Sixth Man of the Year, Teammate of the Year, one gold and two bronze Olympic Medals, another dozen gold, silver, and bronze medals from competitive play, four retired jerseys, and more collegiate, international, and journalistic honors than could be listed and counted at one time.
As the melding completes and the herculean spirit animal awakens to the dawning of this new year, Timobili spreads its arms and engulfs the city into its majestic presence. All in its vicinity will reap the benefit of culture, preeminent skill, and an drive to conquer all in its path.
Enjoy this moment, Spurs fans, we won’t have another one for 99 years.
Happy New Year!
