Another head coach position open, another chance for Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon to make history. This time it’s the Indiana Pacers, who recently fired Nate McMillan after his team was swept from the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs for the second straight year. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Pacers are considering a wide range of candidates, including Hammon and Spurs assistant coach Will Hardy. Other candidates with Spurs ties include former player/assistant coaches Ime Udoka and Jacque Vaughn, and former Spur Chris Quinn.
Besides Hammon, perhaps their most high profile target is Dave Joerger, who served as head coach for the Memphis Grizzlies and Sacramento Kings for three seasons apiece from 2013 through 2019.
