He was drafted in 2016, just completed what should have been his third season (he was out in 2018-19 with an ACL injury), and still Dejounte Murray is nine days younger than rookie Quinndary Weatherspoon.

That’s youth movement for you.

Dejounte was handed the starting point guard spot two seasons ago from Tony Parker. When Parker took that spot, Dejounte was five years old. This was the first major change in the position for the franchise in quite some time.

In many ways, the transition had the appearance of similar Spurs changing of the guards that maintain the attitude of team over player. But Murray has made this team his own and his leadership role grows as his rehabilitation enables him to player longer minutes and stronger possessions.

Murray signed a four-year extension giving fans hope that he will be with the Silver & Black for a long time.

Happy birthday, Dejounte.
