The Spurs have been impressive. They quickly moved up from the 12th spot to the 9th, but yesterday’s loss to the Philadelphia 76ers placed them behind the Portland Trail Blazers in 10th for the time being.
Even in a loss, it was hard to be upset. The fourth quarter was something to behold.
Here’s the thing — I can’t figure out who impresses me the most.
Certainly Lonnie Walker IV and Keldon Johnson’s increasing minutes showcases their depth and development. By the same token, Quinndary Weatherspoon in short spurts offers continuous highlights.
Dejounte Murray and Derrick White continue to show leadership and savvy in the face of All-Star opponents.
With the absence of LaMarcus Aldridge, Rudy Gay looks even more like a leader. By contrast, DeMar DeRozan is taking a backseat while the youth movement does its thing and then takes over in the final frame to help ensure the win.
Sure, Jakob Poeltl has been riddled with foul trouble, but look who he is covering. By the same token, Drew Eubanks is now posting some meaningful NBA stats. Heck, even Tyler Zeller looked good in his few minutes pulling offensive rebounds.
So, for today, Pounders, who in the bubble is impressing you the most?
