Determining how Marco Belinelli fits into the Spurs landscape

Next on our list of Spurs free agents is Marco Belinelli.

Other than Patty Mills, Beli is the only current member of the Spurs who participated in that 2014 Championship run. He did take a few seasons to criss-cross the NBA with the Sacramento Kings, Charlotte Hornets, Atlanta Hawks, and Philadelphia 76ers before returning to San Antonio in 2018.

His numbers since rejoining the Silver & Black have begun to waiver. Although consistency has been a problem, Marco is still good for a spark off the bench.

That said, should Belinelli return he would be the second oldest player on the team behind thirty-five-year-old LaMarcus Aldridge.

With veteran presence and corporate knowledge a valued NBA commodity, Marco could sign a Spurs-friendly contract which would enable him to retire with the team that aligned with his best professional season.

On the other hand, Patty Mills brings corporate knowledge and the Mid-3 trio of LMA, DeMar DeRozan, and Rudy Gay maintain a vet core for the young guns.

What do you think, Pounders? Should the Spurs bring back Belinelli?

Not a good idea. He’s been good to us, but it’s time to move on.
