It’s time for San Antonio Spurs vs. Houston Rockets

In this meeting between rivals, the Spur have a lot more on the line than their opponent

Despite losing Derrick White to a knee contusion early in the second half, the Spurs somehow pulled out a win against the Pelicans behind the heroics of Rudy Gay and DeMar DeRozan late, along with an exceptional 31-32 free throws for the game.

This afternoon, they face the Rockets, who would be a difficult test for the Silver and Black with James Harden and Russell Westbrook, but with the probable absence of White, it looks like a rough task again. This game, like the last one, might be not be the province of young players like Dejounte Murray and Keldon Johnson, but instead the Spurs might have to depend on another clutch performance by DeRozan and Gay to pull out a win. It’s practically a must win for the good guys today.

Updated Spurs playoff scenarios:

Scenario 1 - The Spurs win both remaining games (Rockets and Jazz), then at least TWO of the three conditions must be met:

  • Grizzlies lose both remaining games
  • Suns lose at least one game
  • Blazers lose at least one game

If two of these conditions are met, the Spurs are in 9th and play-in against the 8 seed, which will be one from (Grizzlies, Blazers, Suns). If all three conditions are met, the Spurs are in 9th and one of the three teams above will play-in against them.

Scenario 2 - The Spurs lose one of their two remaining games:

  • Suns lose twice
  • Blazers lose twice

This seems super unlikely, but stranger things have happened. If this happens, the Spurs are in 9th place and play-in against the Grizzlies.

One final word:

Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
