It’s time for San Antonio Spurs vs. Brooklyn Nets scrimmage

The Spurs second bubble tune-up is on tap this afternoon.

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.

Well, the Bucks blew out the Spurs on Thursday afternoon, but there were some nice signs, Lonnie Walker IV showed some great moves, and Derrick White had his moments in the first half. But the Silver and Black couldn’t take advantage of Giannis Antetokounmpo having 5 fouls at halftime, and he destroyed the Spurs’ thin frontcourt in the third quarter by getting to the basket with the greatest of ease for what seemed like dozens of easy buckets. But at least Drew Eubanks put Thanasis Antetokounmpo into oblivion in garbage time.

Today, they face the Nets in a game that doesn’t count, so hopefully this will be a chance for Becky Hammon to find a rotation with the young guys that can provide consistent scoring without the plethora of turnovers that we saw against the Bucks. These games don’t count in the standings, but the Spurs will need to start to play better to make the games that start next week that do count more interesting.
