I love this shot of LaMarcus Aldridge. For one, it’s the last game the Spurs played before the season was abruptly halted, and LMA had a great game. Secondly, he seems to simultaneously be dunking and dabbing.
Texas born LaMarcus Aldridge started at Seagoville High School in Dallas before heading to UT-Austin. He was the second overall draft pick in 2006 by the Chicago Bulls who traded him to the Portland Trail Blazers.
He played nine solid seasons in Portland before becoming the top rated free agent in 2015. He chose the San Antonio Spurs partially because of the proximity to his family. It also helped that former Portland teammate Patty Mills pitched him the benefits of joining the Spurs organization.
As Tim Duncan’s heir apparent, LaMarcus set off to usher in the next era of Spurs basketball.
Aldridge’s attitude and temperament has been a great fit in San Antonio. He’s even added a formidable three-ball to his game.
Unfortunately, LMA is sitting out the rest of the season after having surgery once the coronavirus pandemic postponed the conclusion of the 2019-2020 season.
Happy birthday, LaMarcus! Have a safe and happy day with your loved ones.
