Happy birthday to Tony Parker

The wee Frenchman turned thirty-eight today.

Today, the San Antonio Spurs French Connection celebrates his 38th birthday. That’s right, Pounders, we are that old.

Tony’s long and storied career with the Spurs involved four of the five Spurs titles, all of which are being aired every three days on Fox Sports Southwest starting on Tuesday (1999 just finished airing). Relive the rise of the Big 3 and Tony’s seamless ability to get into the paint and lay the ball in.

In addition, Tony earned the Finals MVP trophy in 2007 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, six All-Star appearances, two FIBA Europe Player of the Year, and a FIBA EuroBasket MVP. Known nationally and internationally, Tony Parker seldom took a season off as he played nearly year-round.

In the truest passing of the torch, Parker stepped back for the development of Dejounte Murray, the Spurs current starting point guard.

Parker’s #9 was retired last November 11 after a Spurs home game. It was quite possibly the last time the Big 3 will be together until Pop himself retires.

Happy birthday, Tony.
