Spurs Give hosts virtual Fiesta de Los Spurs

Fiesta and the NBA may be postponed, but you can engage in both from the safety of your home.

In a time where the term social distancing is in robust rotation and the city of San Antonio has adopted a mandatory masks in public policy, the Spurs are still doing all they can to encourage exercise.

Here in San Antonio, Fiesta would be in full swing. So on April 25th (Tim Duncan’s birthday no less), the Spurs are hosting a virtual Fiesta de Los Spurs. With Fiesta comes the playoffs and the Spurs 23rd consecutive postseason berth (have you not been reading the Pretend Power Rankings?).

From the Spurs Sports and Entertainment press release:

Spurs Give, the official nonprofit of Spurs Sports & Entertainment, in partnership with Fiesta® San Antonio, will host a Virtual Fiesta de Los Spurs Run on Saturday, April 25, as part of #AtHomeFiesta. Participants can also make an optional donation to Spurs Give.

The original Fiesta de Los Spurs Run was scheduled for Saturday, April 25, but will be postponed until Saturday, November 14 and will precede the Fiesta Flambeau Parade.

The Virtual Fiesta de Los Spurs Run will encourage the San Antonio community to remain active while practicing social distancing by walking, running or biking for 2.6 miles or working out for 26 minutes in their best Silver and Black or Fiesta gear. Participating fans can hashtag #AtHomeFiesta and tag @SpursGive on social media on April 25 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. for a chance to win free entry to the run on Nov. 14.

There will be a plethora of Fiesta gatherings in April and you can catch an encore presentation of the 2019 Fiesta Flambeau Parade on Saturday, April 25, on KSAT 12 from 7-10 p.m.

Hopefully, you all are safe in your respective corners of the world and doing your part to maintain good health and safe environments. Keep following the Spurs for more virtual events and updates as they unfold.

[I also want to give a shout to Mrs. Duarte who is celebrating her birthday COVID-19 style today. She gives me the time and space to write for Pounding the Rock, which is generous enough, but this year (for her birthday) she ordered me Spurs masks. Happy birthday, mi amor.]
