If you’re anything like me, all of this social distancing and self quarantining has you going a little stir crazy. And it certainly doesn’t help that virtually every sport on the face of the Earth, including San Antonio Spurs basketball, has been put on hold while we wait for the Coronavirus to run its course.
Days begin to blend together when you spend the majority of your time bottled up in your residence, even if you have a few activities to replace your regular routine. Books, video games, and streaming services may fill the void the disappearance of televised athletics has left in your life, but there’s nothing like watching two teams put an orange sphere through a similarly orange cylinder for 48 minutes.
You might be asking yourself how you can pass the time while still satisfying your need for a little Silver and Black engagement. Are you a Spurs fan? Do you like games? Have you ever dreamed of putting your General Manager hat on and creating a lineup of all-time San Antonio greats? If so, then I have just the thing for you.
In my hours of newfound free time this weekend, I created a special San Antonio Spurs edition of the popular $15 lineup challenge you may have seen across a variety of social media platforms. The goal is simple and the rules are just as easy to understand.
Goal: Create the best possible lineup with a $15 budget.
1.) You’re limited to a selection of FIVE total players.
2.) You ARE NOT required to pick one player at each position, so get creative.
3.) You CANNOT spend more than $15, so be wise with your limited funds.
3.) Let us at Pounding the Rock know who you chose and why you picked them.
$5 Tier: Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, George Gervin, Tim Duncan, David Robinson.
$4 Tier: Johnny Moore, Alvin Robertson, Kawhi Leonard, Larry Kenon, Artis Gilmore.
$3 Tier: James Silas, DeMar DeRozan, Sean Elliot, LaMarcus Aldridge, Tiago Splitter.
$2 Tier: Avery Johnson, Vinny Del Negro, Bruce Bowen, Terry Cummins, Jakob Poeltl.
$1 Tier: Dejounte Murray, Danny Green, Mike Mitchell, Dennis Rodman, Rasho Nesterovic.
I’ll kick off the festivities by taking Dejounte Murray ($1), Alvin Robertson ($4), Bruce Bowen ($2), Sean Elliot ($3), and Tim Duncan ($5). Good luck trying to score 80 points on that All-Defensive bunch.
