Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.
Saturday’s night game was a thriller, as the Spurs gave the Magic a golden opportunity to steal a win (literally) at the buzzer, and the league’s best rim protector, Patty Mills, somehow made Evan Fournier miss a layup. Tonight, they face a tough Eastern Conference team, and the major challenge is to keep Victor Oladipo from getting going as he’s been up and down following an extended absence due to injury. DeMar DeRozan should bounce back from his not great performance against the Magic, and it should be another opportunity for Dejounte Murray and Derrick White to get some time playing together in the same backcourt. LaMarcus is doubtful with a sore shoulder and Jakob Poeltl is out 2-4 weeks with a strained MCL, so expect the Spurs to go small a lot, and for Drew Eubanks to get some extended minutes after he played well against the Magic. The team will be leaving right after the game to head to Charlotte for a game tomorrow night against the Hornets. Go SPURS GooOOOoo!!
