Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.
Tonight’s game starts the second half of the NBA season for the Spurs, and at 5 games below .500, they have a ways to go to achieve the standard they’ve set for the last couple of decades. Tonight, they face the Suns, who have a similar record and a dissimilar history. In order to move closer to the eighth and final playoff spot, the Silver and Black need to defeat the Suns, who have been playing well lately after the return of DeAndre Ayton from suspension. The Spurs can remain in the 9th spot in the west with a win, but if the Suns win, they sink to 10th. DeMar DeRozan should continue to dominate on the offensive end, but tonight Dejounte Murray needs to contain Devin Booker and LaMarcus Aldridge needs to hold up against Ayton. This is it, the big battle for ninth place! Go SPURS GooOOOoo!!
San Antonio Spurs (18-23) at Phoenix Suns (18-24)
