The NBA’s West, minus the head coach

What if every team was just one clipboard away.

Recently, we posed the question what teams in the West might look like without their top star.

But what if teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Golden State Warriors, and our beloved San Antonio Spurs all swapped coaches? How important is head coaching when the team is stacked (see the 73-9 Warriors who dominated a majority of the regular season without Steve Kerr)? In contrast, we’ve seen how important coaching is when the team is uncertain or in flux (e.g., the Spurs the last two seasons).

Want to imagine that the Lakers, Clippers, Nuggets, and Jazz all swapped coaches? Got for it. Prefer to explore how far Gregg Popovich could coach any Western Conference 2019-2020 team? Knock yourself out. Want to design a round-robin-musical-chairs-battle-royale of franchises coach-swapping at the last minute before the season begins? Ok, that’s a bit fancy, but I’m willing to see what that would look like.
