Silver & Black Give back is an amazing aspect of what Spurs Sports & Entertainment does. Dozens of projects, clubs, and community services benefit from the generosity of SBGB.

Personally, I have been involved with two Team Up Challenge projects that were funded through grants awarded via Silver & Black Give Back. In addition, I have had the pleasure of covering many of the ceremonies, receptions, service projects, and unveilings showcasing a myriad of causes.

An excellent example of their continued support is funding of Rise Recovery. The Spurs press release stated:

Rise Recovery was granted $100,000 to provide furniture, fixtures and equipment for the sport court and surrounding outdoor educational classroom at Rise’s new campus. The space, which will be utilized every day by clients and their counselors as they continue the recovery journey, will serve as a safe and active place for continued learning and growth. Rise Recovery aims to help teens, young adults and families overcome the effects of drugs and alcohol while also partnering with the community in education and prevention. Rise operates San Antonio’s only youth recovery program, providing intervention and education to students both in school and during out-of-school time.

I grew up right near there and personally knew many people who were able benefit from the former Palmer Drug Abuse Program (PDAP), now known as Rise Recovery. This is a wonderful show of support and sure to be appreciated by many for years to come.

But that is not all the Spurs have donated to as of late. Check back tomorrow for more causes that have been on the receiving end of SBGB this summer.
