Earlier today, Andrew Grief, Los Angeles Clippers beat writer for the Los Angeles Times, tweeted out this load management update on former Spur Kawhi Leonard:
Kawhi Leonard will not play vs. Utah. Resting on the first half of the back to back.
— Andrew Greif (@AndrewGreif) October 30, 2019
A mere four games into the season, Leonard is averaging 27 points, 7.5 assists, and 6.5 assists per game, and his Clippers are tied atop the Pacific Division with their Staples Center co-occupants, the Lakers. The Spurs are one of only three remaining undefeated teams remaining (along with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers), which adds a little extra intrigue to the game in this very young season.
Is there anything to make of Leonard’s load management taking place at the front end of a SEGABABA? Or will this be Coach Doc Rivers’ plan for him throughout the season? In either case, tune in tomorrow night at 9:30 PM CT to find out how San Antonio measures up with one of the Western Conference title favorites!
