Tim Duncan supports a friend for District Attorney

The GOAT endorses a local candidate for public office.

Spurs great Tim Duncan has broken his tradition of silence and has endorsed current Bexar County District Attorney Nico LaHood in his campaign for reelection.

A 15 second spot aired prime time during the Olympics on NBC, you can view the less-edited “long form” video version of Duncan’s comments in a local article.

Considering the overall silence with which Tim Duncan keeps, this seems to be a detour from his typical personae. Since retiring, Tim has remained relatively low-key. He was most recently seen utilizing his celebrity to bring aid and awareness to his homeland during the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.

As much was being done for Houston and Florida, The U. S. Virgin Islands was not as prevalent in the headlines. Duncan’s dedication and efforts brought much need support. Even then, the greatest power forward of all time avoided the spotlight in exchange for time on the frontline.

A staple of his on and off court presence, Duncan’s demeanor has even been the butt of the joke in national ads:

But this time, Tim is speaking out in support of a candidate. And as Spurs fans know, when Tim Duncan does speak, it is well worth listening.
